Urban Groov Project appears at least once a month at Lola in the Downtown St. Louis Loft district. UG Project is essentially a live mash up of deep house, soul, Latin and jazz.

Strong emphasis is placed on mixing spontaneous improvisations with original MIDI sequences that are manipulated live. Add horns, soulful vocals, jazz influenced keyboard voicings and live percussion and you have UG Project.

This week we are joined by Mr. C Jay Conrod on vocals.

Featuring DJ Nune (L. Harris)- Brass, Beats, Vocals and Keys.
Duane "Jingo" Williams- percussion
Maurice "Mo" Egeston (mo E trio, Brothers Lazaroff, the Soul Alliance feat. CocoSoul formerly of mo & dawn and UJN)- keys and beats.

Mo Egeston Presents the Mo E Trio Live @ Lola. Best known for his role as a band leader pianist Mo Egeston is stepping out front and leading his own trio in 2010

Using influences from all the projects he plays in (the Soul Alliance, UG Project and Brothers Lazaroff) as well as his own interest in combining soul, jazz and electronic influences the Mo E Trio will seek to redefine traditional expectations.

This week the Mo E Trio will feature Grover Stewart on drums and Teddy Brookins on bass. Soul-jazz, bossa, ambient house, drum and bass and original music will be explored.

Mo Egeston Presents: the Soul Alliance Trio featuring CocoSoul Live @ Lola Jan 24

Greetings,
Lola is a new music venue in the downtown Washington Ave loft district.  Every Sunday through March I am hosting a Brunch Music series called Mo Egeston Presents.  This gives me an opportunity to feature many of the artists that I began working with in 2009.

We had an incredible time this past Sunday with Brothers Lazaroff.  This Sunday January 24th I'm thrilled to bring back the Soul Alliance Trio featuring CocoSoul.  CocoSoul will be joining me at noon.  Sean Holland (bass) and I will do a set of soul-jazz and groove based instrumentals from 11-11:45.

Early arrival is recommended.

Also this weekend I join DJ Nune and a possible guest artist TBA with UG Project.  UG Project incorporates the drive and groove of electronic dance music with jazz, funk and soul.  We perform using a combination of horns, vocals, vocoder, keys, software and hardware sequencing.  Also at Lola we hit from 9:30- 1.   We may be shooting video so stay tuned for another announcement.  Saturday Jan 23

And finally An Evening With  Brothers Lazaroff this Friday Jan 22.  at Riddle's in the U City Loop.  Americana, Folk, Indie Rock.  This band has been getting some very nice buzz all year and we look forward to hitting the studio in February.

During the day, find me with my piano teacher hat on with a brand new location at Teipen Performing Arts.  Conveniently located in the U City/Clayton area.

Peace,

This last Global Warmth of 2009 will be an all encompassing organic, eclectic, electric affair! In the months passed,Los Solteros (Jingo y Enoch) have brought the very best of their private record collections into an intimate lounge(thanks Nhat) and showcased genres from all about the globe, including but not limited to Afro Beat,Salsa,UK Soul,Brazilian and Indian, not to mention American and Jamaican Funk,in an effort to unite people from all walks of life thru good music & vibrations to thus heal the planet. Really doe.

The day after Xmas edition's listening party and record spin will be a mix of all of the flavors we love, blended harmoniously by Enoch; so come, taste, and experience them.

The live portion will feature spontaneous creations from the Urban Groov project, Lamar Harris a.k.a. DJ Nune (horns, boards, vocals, turntables n more) + Mo E(keyboards, beats and vocoder) +Jingo(percussion), a fusion of LatinSoulfulJazzyCosmicHouse.

If you've been to this event in the past you know that we raise the temperature literally and burn up the dancefloor, to the point of condensation upon it,no bull! We're gonna round the year off with the same intensity times ten. Be prepared, dress comfortably and bring dry clothes to leave in; you can thank us later ;^)

The needle drops at 9pm,the live heat hits circa 11,if you haven't shown up by midnight, you may not get in.

There's still no cover,so buy dranks, and dance your ass off and grow it back next year.
Thanks for all of your support for THE alternative to the club, and thanks in advance for your attendance.

See you there!

RFT Poll- Please Vote for Lamar Harris, Brothers Lazaroff and Flex Boogie

Greetings!

Two of the bands I play in are nominate
d in this years RFT Music Poll. http://polls.riverfronttimes.com/polls/stl/musicawards2009/ (click to vote!)

I've sworn off these things but I'm excited for the leaders of the groups so I'd love it if you take a moment to vote. My choices are Lamar Harris (website) in the
Best Funk/Soul/R&B category. (All of those acts are great actually but I like the keytar player for Lamar's group.)
Brothers Lazaroff (website) in the Americana/Folk category and others. (see below) and DJ Flex Boogie.

Lots of new venues and such this summer for Soul Alliance (May 29 at Araka), Lamar Harris, UG Project and Brothers Lazaroff who are releasing a CD on June 27th at Off Broadway with yours truly on keys.

From Brothers Lazaroff

Greetings friends and family,
Brothers Lazaroff need your help - please go to http://polls.riverfronttimes.com/polls/stl/musicawards2009/ and write in "Brothers Lazaroff" for best Americana/Folk Act (we aren't one of the clickable choices - so, you have to write us in). This is the first category you'll see on the page. You have to click the "write in" button next to where you write our name and fill out some quick information. Don't worry, your vote will still count even if you don't live in St. Louis

If you want to write in Brothers Lazaroff for best male songwriter - that's cool too!

Thanks for your consideration!
David

This week w/ musician Mo Egeston

Hi there,

Just had a cool weekend with Lamar Harris in Memphis. Saturday night...and Sunday morning. ( I wear all sorts of hats these days).

Trying to get back to doing some writing (see the player) and I've added a few dates to the calendar including a CD release party on June 27 with Brothers Lazaroff (see the hats comment). Also I hope to be announcing a monthly rotation on Sunday nights for the UG Project very soon.

If you're interested in the Soul Alliance featuring CocoSoul please contact Doug Hall at 314.421.9400 (Talent Plus).

Click the shows tab below to see what's new. Sign up on the mailing list and get a free download.

And besides electronica...here's what I've been listening to all morning. Something about a Prince slow jam makes the world right for a moment at least.

Call My Name

Peace. Please support the arts and education. And definitely arts education.
